We did a Father’s Day shoot and my heart was bursting the entire time! I may be biased, but this is definitely my most favorite session to date   It only took 10 minutes to shoot, but Ron embraced Eva like he only had 10 minutes left in the world with her!  I am so, so blessed, to have not only an amazing husband, but an amazing dad for Eva as well.

To Ron, Happy 1st Father’s Day! You are an amazing dad and I am so blessed to be on this adventure with you. We love you long time!

“Before I was a Mom… I made and ate hot meals. I had unstained clothing. I had quiet conversations on the phone.

Before I was a Mom… I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.

Before I was a Mom… I cleaned my house each day. I never tripped over toys or forgot words to lullabies.

Before I was a Mom… I didn’t worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about Immunizations.

Before I was a Mom… I had never been puked on, pooped on, spit on, chewed on, peed on or pinched by tiny fingers. I had complete control of my mind, my thoughts, and my body. I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom… I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom… I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn’t want to put it down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn’t stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom… I didn’t know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn’t know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn’t know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn’t know that something so small could make me feel so important.

Before I was a Mom… I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment, or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn’t know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom”

From the day she was born, I’ve been in love! Not only with this tiny person that I’ve been blessed with, but with my new role as a mother. It’s true what people say, children change your life… And although life may have been much more carefree back then, I still can’t imagine how life would be now without Eva in it.

I think the poem above pretty much summed up everything I wanted to say about how special my first mother’s day is. And a few days ago, I had my husband, Ron snap a few photos of me and Eva for Mother’s Day. Although I provided some direction and post processed the following images myself, I have to say, Ron did a pretty good job mimicking my vision and style. To all the mothers out there.. a very Happy Mother’s Day to you.

“He is Alive…” Today the Christian/Catholic community is celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the blessings that came forth with it. And more importantly, I see this as the celebration of life.

In my line of photography, I have the pleasure of being on the “first to call” list whenever my clients deliver their little bundles of joy. Just hearing about a healthy life being brought into this earth safely definitely makes for a better day whenever I receive that phone call or message!

The same goes for being a NICU RN as well. Despite the more unexpected, and sometimes– the more difficult circumstances, there is still a celebration of life… even for the most tiniest members of our society. And along that celebration– ….. hope.

May you all have a wonderful Easter and celebrate the life of those who are still here and those who have passed.
